Dr James Facer-Childs

I am an adventurer, emergency care doctor and advanced trauma life support instructor with a passion for challenges in extremes.

In 2009 I achieved a Guinness World Record rowing for 103 days across the Indian Ocean.  I have since traversed Antarctica twice, summited mountains, run ultramarathons and worked in austere environments. 

​

I continue to work in the ever demanding emergency department in hospital and have treated extreme trauma in the volatile South African trauma unit.  While also accompanying groups as there doctor, up Kilimanjaro, rowing the Zambezi River, hiking in the Himalayas and others.

​

These experiences have hugely shaped my own understanding of human performance and ability to provide excellent medical and psychological care to others in remote environments.
